NACD – National Association of Child Development
The NACD Neurodevelopmental Approach utilizes a neurologically-based, targeted, eclectic treatment methodology. This involves perceiving the individual and his function as in integrated whole, more than a summation of his or her parts. The relationship between neurological and physiological function is synergistic. A comprehensive treatment approach must address both factors as part of the process. Global areas of concern are identified, followed by an evaluation to determine the underlying neurological/developmental causes or inefficiencies producing the functional problem(s). Intervention is based upon both the acceleration of normal neurological development, and the remediation of abnormal developmental patterns. The basic structure of the intervention is dictated by an appreciation of neural plasticity and the need for organized specific input, which is provided with the necessary frequency, intensity and duration. Understanding that the more specific the input the more targeted and effective the intervention, an effort is made to incorporate as many valid treatment techniques as possible, providing a truly eclectic model. Treatment techniques are created, identified, developed, modified and replaced in an effort to identify the best techniques to be utilized with an individual.

We are so grateful for NACD and our involvement with them from the very beginning of Patrick’s life. . . I credit our involvement with NACD which provided interventions that kept us from needing the additional surgeries that are so common for children with spina bifida. Read More

We have been doing NACD for a little over 2 years and she has skyrocketed in every area, in some cases as much as 7 years of progress in just 2 years!!! As a result, her personality, sense of humor and interests have blossomed. She is a different person. I can’t recommend NACD enough. If I had to recommend just one thing, it would be NACD hands down! Read More

Neuromodulation uses electrical signals to tweak the spinal cord, making it more responsive and ready for therapy—it both assists and teaches! Basically, it helps kickstart movement without doing everything for the user—it’s like a boost that lets them take charge and move on their own. This hands-on effort helps them learn naturally while the device is active. Kids tell us it sharpens their focus, and they push harder to hit their goals, even if it’s just starting a movement. When a child gets moving toward something they want, it feels awesome—like a built-in reward! Over time, these new skills get smoother and more automatic. It’s a big win for the kids, parents, and therapists, keeping everyone excited and motivated for every session. Therapy turns into something fun!

We saw quick results with Ada’s gait pattern along with marked increase in strength and balance. This protocol requires much more participation and attention to detail than the other protocol we tried, and we are yielding great results. Read More

This is a game changer. A lifetime of lordosis, gone in a week, but probably more like the first day. I didn’t really pay attention; it was just gone! Read More

NISE-Stim, short for Non-Invasive Spinal Electrical Stimulation, is a therapy developed in 2017 by Gerti Motavalli, PT, MPT, along with Dr. Gad Alon, PT, Ph.D., an internationally recognized researcher in electrical stimulation. It uses safe electrical currents delivered through electrodes placed over the spinal cord and specific areas of the body to stimulate muscle movement, enhance neuromuscular coordination, and improve motor, sensory and autonomic functions. Research has been published in the online research journal Child Neurology Open in 2019..
